Five Days in Haiti

img_0211Blow in, blow up and blow out is not my favorite thing to do, but this describes my recent trip to Haiti. It has been 30 years since I was first in this island nation. It remains the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. You may remember Haiti suffered a devastating earthquake in 2010 and more recently Hurricane Andrew ravaged the western side of the island in August. Yet, In spite of the misery people endure each day, I found a sincere faith in Jesus and hope God.

I spent several hours with a group of 15 pastors and leaders who are hungry for connection and training. We laid the groundwork for a Leadership Summit next year and for continued relationship. On Sunday I traveled two hours outside of the capital city, Port-au-Prince to Petit Goave and shared at a church of over 1,000 person on being ready for the coming of Christ. In the evening I spoke at another church in Port on Hope as an Anchor of our Soul. People were very responsive and encouraged.

It is difficult to understand how a nation which has been saturated with the Gospel remains in such a dismal condition. But Haitian people I encountered have not given up hope for a better future. I look forward to being a part of the answer.

Thank you for your prayers. A very blessed Christmas to you all, and God’s very best for the New Year.
