In November of 1992, Bob taught for a week in a rural Bible School in Bungoma, Kenya. One of the young, students, Jonah Shirutsi, was so impacted by the teaching on “Enduring Faith” that he continued to communicate with Bob as a son in the faith. Jonah has since married, started a family and planted a church in the village of Eldoret. Each year he has made the arduous journey to Nairobi to attend the Faith Christian Fellowship Leadership Summit. Each year he has grown in faith and as a leader.
This January (23 years later) Jonah started a Bible School at his church in Eldoret with satellite schools in Kapsabet and Lodwar. The schools have blessed many who would not otherwise have the opportunity to attend school and prepare for ministry. One of the student shares his testimony:
“I am a pastor serving under the organization Morning Star Ministry. I have been preaching for the last ten years. I had not gotten enough education where I could be allowed in any Bible School which is in our country, but I thank God for Faith Christian Fellowship Bible College which has come in our region. We are now listening to the international ministers which I would not have had any opportunity to sit under. I had teaching on the Blood Covenant, New Creation Realities, Power of Prayer [and more]. These teaching have transformed my life and the church which I pastor. From the few months we have been in class, I am experiencing what the Lord is doing through me. [By the time] we shall be finishing the whole curriculum, I believe it will really do a lot. I have found the teaching to be inspiring very much [my] gift, and equipping for the work of the ministry. This college has come at a timely hour and such a moment to lift people like us who could not have had the opportunity.”
In August, Pastor Jonah and his wife attended the Leadership Summit in Nairobi with 22 delegates from his church – many of them Bible School students. Jonah is a living example of 2 Timothy 2:2, “The things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.”
